This thought has been floating in my mind for a while, but only listening to Charlize’s interview did it remind me of this. Charlize said her teacher taught her the process of taking apart a script and that resonated so well with my thoughts. Learning anything should never be focused on the mechanical doings. I think all learning should start from how to see the task. Learning how to draw is not training the hand movements, those can be learned quickly. It is about seeing the image in its dissected pieces of shapes and shades. Learning to an instrument is not memorizing the mechanical adagios and vibratos, it is about understanding the bare essence of that music piece.
Terribly sorry for throwing a W. I just might have found my own medicine.
